Vinyl flooring installation Process:

Installing vinyl flooring involves totally clearing the area, removing the trim or molding from your walls, and preparing the floor for the vinyl.  Whether the floor prep means sanding, smoothing out flaws, or replacing hardwood old boards, we can make sure that the floor is capable of holding the vinyl and making it look perfect.  Once the floor is ready, we measure the vinyl carefully to fit your floor, attach it to the floor, adjusting for any floor expansion that will occur, and then replace the molding, trim, and doors that we had to remove.

Luxury Vinyl Tile Common Questions

It seems like an easy job to do, but installing vinyl floors is not simple. Not adjusting for the right amount of swelling or humidity can cause the vinyl to curl or bubble, and a wrong measurement can mean a waste of valuable materials.  Let our experts take the stress and difficulty out of your floor installation.

Unlike other flooring companies in Southern New England, at Ace Wood Flooring, we’re not afraid to work in absolutes. In other words, we absolutely promise that within five days of contacting us, your new floors are completed and ready to go. Period.

In order to give the adhesive time to fully dry, we recommend keeping the foot traffic to a minimum for 24 hours. But once those 24 hours have passed, your vinyl flooring is ready for whatever you throw at it! As for cleaning the floor, moisture can affect the adhesive. We recommend a three day waiting period before cleaning the floors to be sure that the adhesive is totally stable and won’t be affected by moisture.

One of the perks of vinyl flooring is that installing it over top of other things is an easy solution for installing new floors.

  • Concrete: Sheet vinyl can be installed over concrete if the surface of the concrete is clean, smooth and dry.  We would need to repair any holes or cracks, and smooth out uneven bumps.
  • Linoleum or vinyl flooring: Vinyl floors can be laid over old linoleum or vinyl flooring if the existing floor is in good condition. If the old floor has a rough texture or some indentations we will need to smooth those out, but badly damaged or loose vinyl or linoleum will need to be removed.
  • Hardwood: You can lay vinyl floors over hardwood as long as the floor is smooth and even.  If the floor is flawed, simply sanding it down and smoothing it out will solve that problem and we can install your new floor;
  • Badly damaged floors:  Vinyl cannot be installed over a buckled or uneven floor.  If we cannot fix your floor, you might need to replace it altogether, or it is possible to cover the old under layer of plywood with a new layer.

Vinyl can last for anywhere between 10 and 20 years, but you can’t just clean or refurbish vinyl.  It will have to be replaced. But don’t worry … we can do that too!
