Carpet Installation in Rhode Island and Massachusetts

Carpet Installation Commonly Asked Questions

As one of the most trusted names in carpet and flooring installation throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts, we work with a wide variety of clients. Every customer is a priority and not treated as another number. Throughout the many years we’ve been installing carpeting for our friends, neighbors and families we’ve built a reputation we’re proud of.  We’ve experienced every situation under the sun and have been asked every question about carpet installation you can imagine.  Read on for answers to some of the most commonly asked carpet installation questions.

Should I install carpet?

Carpeting is warmer and cozier than hardwood flooring. It’s a great option when you’re looking to make a room a bit more comfortable, you’re designing a room that will allow kids to play comfortably, or you’re looking for a less slippery surface to work on. Our flooring experts can help you choose the best carpeting option for your home.

Carpet Choices

We offer our carpeting services to so many types of homeowners in the region, so we work with all types of carpeting. We offer a wide array of carpets to choose from. Our options range from all cut pile carpeting options: plush, textured, cable, and frieze to loop pile options like berber or cut and loop. We’ll help you find the best option for your home.

Cut Pile Carpeting Options
  • HowCan I walk Plush- This carpeting option has a smooth, even look and offers a more luxurious aesthetic to your home. But, because of the smooth finish, it can get damaged in high traffic areas.
  • Textured- Textured options are made with low density fibers of uneven heights. Because of the uneven surface, dirt and stains are harder to see. It’s a more informal option, and it can work in any area of your home.
  • Cable- This is a great carpeting option to make a room a little more cozy. Thick, long fibers provide a soft feeling underfoot when you walk on it, but it can get matted if there’s too many people walking over it. It’s a great option for bedrooms, but not for places in your home where a lot of traffic takes place.
  • Frieze- This carpet design has a more informal look to it. Long fibers with more twists hide footprints and other marks better than other carpeting options, and the durability means it’s a good choice for high traffic parts of your home. If the piles are longer, this carpet is usually called a “shag” rug.
  • Saxony- Saxony has longer fibers than plush carpeting, and the fibers have a twist to them that tend to show footprints and other marks more than other carpeting options. This means it’s not great for high traffic areas or areas where there’s a lot of kid’s activity going on.
Loop Pile Carpeting Options
  • Berber- This is also known as “level loop” style carpeting. Berber has short looped fibers that are great for high traffic areas because they are so durable. The finished look is informal and the coloring can hide dirt and stains, but the seams are more visible because of the fiber’s height.
  • Cut and Loop– Cut and Loop is a combination of cut pile and loop pile fibers. The combination adds texture that hides footprints, stains, and dirt, which makes it a great option for highly trafficked areas.
  • Patterned Multi-Level Loop– This option is exactly what it sounds like- the loops that make up the carpet are multiple levels which adds texture to the carpet, or they can create a pattern for the carpet. It stands up well under foot traffic.
Can I walk on my new carpet right away?

The best part about installing carpet is that there is no drying time involved. Once your carpet is installed you have full reign of the new area. Just be aware that the adhesive may have an odor for up to 48 hours after the installation, and that your carpet may be shedding fibers for the first few days after its installation.

How long does carpeting last?

Most carpeting we install in homes across RI, MA and CT has a lifespan of about 10-12 years. Once it reaches that point, it is usually threadbare, matted, and lacking the luster of a brand new carpet.

What can I do to keep my carpet looking new?

Using vacuums or steam cleaners regularly will help keep your carpet looking like new. Also, dealing with stains right when they happen and choosing a durable type of carpet is a great way to keep your carpeting looking newer, longer.

I received 3 quotes to provide leopard print rugs on my stairs and Ace came in the quickest and the middle of the prices. Long story short everyone from the owner, Troy to the person who installed the rugs and his assistant were amazing. They stayed until the job was done and it is so beautiful I could not be happier …. I have never had such a good experience with any kind of contractor…..If I could give them more stars I would and I don’t give out stars easily.

“Ace did a great job for me when they refinished my hardwood floors. My house in Barrington is about 55 years old and the floors looked terrible and I was not sure they could be salvaged. What a surprise when I saw what Ace was able to do! The floors are amazing… Ace is really wonderful!”
