Hi! This is Troy with Ace Wood Floor. Today’s topic is: Is engineered flooring right for me? Engineered flooring is specifically designed for a specific product. Most notably, going over top of a concrete subfloor. Here in New England, the majority of us have a wooden subfloor. Engineered flooring is not the product for us.

Quiet often, on these design TV shows, they use an engineered product. What you need to note is that they do not have a wood sub-floor. There is not an economic savings using an engineered flooring in in your house. Quiet often, an engineered wood floor would cost you more. People who live in the south live primarily on slabs. They would use an engineered floor if they want a wood-look flooring. Here in the northeast, we use a solid, traditionally ¾ inch thick plank of wood, which can be sanded and re-finished multiple times, and has a life expectancy of over 150 years.
