There are primarily 3 types of finishes you have to choose from…
Oil base polyurethane, available in high gloss, semi-gloss and satin.
- Will not dry in high humidity.
- Can take up to 30 days to fully cure
- Recommended 1 coat sealer. 2 coats finish.
- Will yellow over time.
- Least durable
- Moderate cost
Water base polyurethane, available in high gloss, semi-gloss, satin and matte.
- Will dry to touch 2-3hrs.
- Can take up to 15 days to fully cure
- Recommended 3-4 coats.
- Will ashen and lose the shine quickly.
- Durability depends on how much you pay for finish.
- Most expensive
Moisture cure urethane, available in high gloss and semi-gloss.
- Will dry 4-6hrs.
- Will cure over-night
- Recommended 2 coats
- Will yellow over time.
- Most durable of all finishes.
- Moderate cost.
- Cannot put over stain.
